Music and Musicology

This course explores debates that have arisen in the discipline of musicology around positivism, critical race theory, feminist and gender theory, poststructuralism, postcolonialism and cultural studies. The course takes up debates in European, Canadian, and Anglo-American classical and popular musical traditions. Prerequisites: Registration in Year 4 of the Honours BMus program or permission of the instructor. Exclusions: MU380q.
